I had a bad day and that’s okay.

Depression. Obsessive compulsive disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder. Self-harm tendencies. Trichotillomania. Panic attacks. Manic episodes.
All of it is very real. A diagnosis can lead to treatment and understanding, but can also bring you down emotionally. It’s a confirmation that something is wrong.
It is taking me a very long time to accept that I struggle and acknowledge that:
It’s okay to not be in a perfect mind at all times.
It’s okay that you are crying.
It’s okay that you feel like you are drowning.
It’s okay that you want to sit in the dark.
It’s okay that you called in to work today.
It’s okay that you didn’t brush your hair, or wash it.
It’s okay that you gain a cat each time something traumatic happens in your life.
It’s okay that you spoil those cats to feel a sense of joy when you see them happy.
It’s okay that you had an extra piece of pizza.
It’s okay that you ripped your nails off to feel like a new person.
It’s okay that you splurged on a new blanket to add to the 20 you already have.
It’s okay that you don’t know how to breathe in rhythm.
It’s okay that you take prescribed medication.
It’s okay that you had to max out on your anxiety medicine three days in a row.
It’s okay that you take prescribed medication.
It’s okay that you have scheduled appointments on a set timeline.
It’s okay that you haven’t washed your dishes in a week.
It’s okay that you haven’t put away three loads of laundry.
It’s okay that you have Spring decor out in hopes to make your living space look happier.
It’s okay that you struggle.
It’s okay that you have a diagnosis(es).
It’s okay that you’re not always okay.
It’s okay.
It may not seem like it right now, but it’s okay.
It will all be okay.
You are never alone in your battle.
